RPO / TERMS OF USE
Terms of Use.
The terms that apply to using ResearchPurposeOnly.com and to applying to the RPO network.
Terms of Use
These Terms cover the website and the application process. The membership relationship itself is governed by the Membership Agreement, which is accepted with the application. This document cross-references rather than duplicates it, and neither document incorporates the other.
1. About RPO and these Terms
Research Purpose Only ("RPO", "we", "us") operates a website and a private membership community oriented around bona fide research, educational, and institutional purposes.
By using the RPO website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
2. Related documents
These Terms operate alongside:
- Privacy Policy — how RPO handles personal information.
- Notice at Collection — the short notice shown at or before collection.
- Research Disclaimer — the research-use boundaries. Read it. It is the most important document on this site.
- Email Consent Disclosure — how RPO contacts you, and marketing email.
- Membership Agreement — the membership contract, accepted with the application.
Each of these is a separate document that applies on its own terms. These Terms govern website use; the Membership Agreement governs the membership relationship. Neither incorporates the other, and no order of precedence between the documents is stated here.
3. Who may use the website and apply
To apply for RPO membership you must:
- be 21 years of age or older;
- be located in, and eligible to participate from, the United States;
- provide information that is truthful, accurate, and complete; and
- accept these Terms, the Research Disclaimer, and the privacy documents.
RPO does not accept applicants outside the United States.
RPO may approve or reject any application at its discretion, including on eligibility or compliance grounds. Submitting an application creates no right to membership. RPO's review of an application means only that RPO looked at what was submitted — it is not a check, endorsement, accreditation, or confirmation of any person's identity, credentials, qualifications, or professional standing.
Membership begins on Approval, as described in the Membership Agreement.
4. What RPO is, and what it is not
RPO is an informational and community platform. RPO provides access to research-oriented information and to a private membership community.
RPO is not:
- a pharmacy;
- a medical provider or medical practice;
- a veterinary provider or veterinary practice;
- a clinical service, laboratory service, or diagnostic service;
- a supplier, distributor, or seller of research materials.
RPO does not provide medical advice, veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment, or prescription of any kind, and no relationship of doctor and patient, veterinarian and client, or clinician and subject is created by using this website or by becoming a member.
RPO does not authorize or endorse the administration of research materials to humans or to animals. See the Research Disclaimer.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the website lawfully and in a manner consistent with the research, educational, and institutional purposes RPO exists for.
You must not:
- provide false, inaccurate, or misleading information, or apply on behalf of another person without authority;
- use the website to seek or offer medical, veterinary, or clinical services, or to solicit advice on administering any substance to a human or an animal;
- use RPO, or anything obtained through RPO, in connection with administering any substance to a human or an animal;
- use the website for any unlawful purpose, or to further any activity that violates applicable federal, state, or local law, including laws governing controlled, regulated, prescription, or investigational materials;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website, its infrastructure, or another person's information;
- interfere with the operation of the website, including by circumventing bot protection, rate limiting, or access controls;
- scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content or personal information;
- submit malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringing; or
- misrepresent your affiliation with RPO, or use RPO's name or marks without permission.
6. Your submissions
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit, including your stated research interests, affiliation, and your answer to what brings you to RPO.
You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant RPO permission to store and use your submissions for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy — reviewing your application, administering membership, and meeting RPO's legal and compliance obligations.
7. Information on the website is general, not advice
Content on the RPO website is provided for general informational purposes.
- It is not medical, veterinary, clinical, legal, or regulatory advice.
- It is not a recommendation to obtain, handle, or use any material.
- It does not establish that any material is safe, effective, lawful, approved, or appropriate for any purpose.
RPO does not warrant that website content is accurate, complete, or current, and you should not rely on it as the basis for any research, purchasing, handling, or compliance decision. You are responsible for your own compliance with all laws and institutional requirements that apply to you.
8. A "research use only" label does not determine legality
Nothing on the RPO website, and no label, description, or designation such as "research use only", "not for human consumption", or similar wording, determines or alters the legal or regulatory status of any material, or your obligations under applicable law.
Labelling is not permission. Compliance with applicable law, intended-use rules, and regulatory requirements is your responsibility, regardless of how a material is described. See the Research Disclaimer.
9. Third-party websites and services
The website may link to or rely on third-party websites and services. RPO does not control them, does not endorse them, and is not responsible for their content, practices, or availability. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that third party's terms and privacy practices.
10. Availability, changes, and access
RPO may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website at any time, and may restrict or suspend access where RPO reasonably believes these Terms, the Research Disclaimer, or applicable law have been or may be breached, or where necessary to protect the website, its members, or RPO.
RPO does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Suspension or termination of membership is governed by the Membership Agreement.
11. Intellectual property
The RPO name, the "Research Purpose Only" name, the RPO wordmark and visual identity, and the text, design, and arrangement of the website are owned by RPO or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. You may read and use the website for its intended purpose. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or create derivative works from it except as permitted by law or with RPO's written permission.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement.
RPO does not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content is accurate or complete.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RPO will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of the website — even if RPO has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Changes to these Terms
Each published version of these Terms is stored as an immutable version with a content hash. A change is a new version, never an edit in place. The version in force when you submitted an application or accepted membership remains identifiable from RPO's records.
Continued use of the website after a new version takes effect constitutes acceptance of that version.
