Research Purpose Only is an independent network for the people researching emerging areas of science.
RPO / 001 / WHY IT EXISTS
Scientific knowledge is scattered. It sits in papers behind paywalls, in databases that assume you already know what you are looking for, in laboratories, in companies, and in the heads of people working alone.
People researching emerging areas have the hardest time of it. The literature is thin, the terminology is unsettled, and most of the places these subjects get discussed are organized around selling something rather than understanding it.
RPO is a network for the people exploring that territory carefully.
RPO / 002 / WHAT RPO IS NOT
- A research institute, university or laboratory.
- An accreditation, certification or licensing body.
- A clinical or healthcare organization.
- A scientific authority, and not a source of scientific consensus.
- A retailer. Nothing is sold here.
RPO does not conduct, sponsor, review or endorse research, and does not check the credentials of the people in it.
RPO / 003 / WHERE RPO IS NOW
Where things stand.
Applications are open and reviewed. Accepted members agree to the Membership Agreement, and membership runs in annual years that are renewed.
There is no member sign-in, no member directory and no published body of work. The research areas on this site describe where the network’s interest sits, not findings.
Membership is open to people 21 or older in the United States, for research, educational or institutional purposes only.
We would rather describe a small network accurately than a large one inaccurately.
